The module talks about the following:
Understanding Child Development
Understanding children’s developmental stages is crucial to teaching them effectively. Children pass through various cognitive, emotional, and social development phases, and each stage requires different teaching approaches.
Cognitive Development
- Jean Piaget’s Stages of Cognitive Development:
- Sensorimotor Stage (0-2 years): Children learn through sensory experiences and manipulating objects. Teaching should involve interactive play and exploration.
- Preoperational Stage (2-7 years): Characterized by symbolic thinking and imagination. Use stories, drawings, and role-play to engage learners.
- Concrete Operational Stage (7-11 years): Children develop logical thinking about concrete events. Introduce hands-on activities and experiments to explain concepts.
- Formal Operational Stage (11+ years): Abstract reasoning begins. Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving through debates and hypothetical scenarios.
Emotional and Social Development
