To learn Linear programming Problem by Transportation Model
To learn Linear programming Problem by Transportation Model, Balanced and Unbalanced Transportation Model.
Course Description
Welcome to the course of “Transportation model”! Firstly let me congratulate you for joining this amazing series of lectures. Transportation Model is a special case of LPP (Linear Programming Problem) in which the main objective is to transport a product from various sources to various destinations at total minimum cost.
The transportation problem is a special type of linear programming
problem where the ‘objective is to minimize the cost of distributing a product from a number of sources or origins to a number of destinations. The origin of a transportation problem is the location
from which shipments are dispatched. The destination of a transportation problem is the location to which shipments are transported. The unit transportation cost is the cost of transporting one unit of the consignment from an origin to a destination.
Example: A manager has four Factories (i.e. origins) and four Warehouses (i.e. destinations). The quantities of goods available in each factory, the requirements of goods in each warehouse and the costs of transportation of a product from each factory to each warehouse are given. His objective is to
ascertain the quantity to be transported from various factories to different warehouses in such a way that the total transportation cost is minimized.
