Course Description
What is happiness?
It means vastly different things to different people. True happiness stems from a quality within ourselves from a way of thinking of life.
If the principles of contentment is not within us, no material success, no pleasures, no possessions can make us happy
How can Happiness be defined?
Happiness has two components. First component includes the experience of positive emotions. Happy people experience more frequent positive emotions – enthusiasm, tranquilly, joy, pride, affection. A happy person also has a sense that life is good. That they are satisfied with life with the way they are progressing with their life goals. So happiness is about being happy IN your life and being happy WITH your life. How you can experience more meaning and satisfaction in life defines happiness.
This definition is from Sonja Lymbomirsky author of “how of happiness” and “myths of happiness”. Vastly happiness means different things to different people.
How can we Measure our Happiness?
Happiness is subjective. A good standard to measure happiness is to ask the person if they are happy. How happy are you on a scale of 1 to 10? Research says that the answer you give correlates exactly with your hour by hour emotional experience and what your family members will say, and also with how often you smile during the day.
